What can I say, I lost the will to blog for a really long time. I had some big stressful things come up in my life. I found this channel on Youtube that really spoke to me. This person is just kind of like me. I will not post the link at this point. It was creepy to find a person who was so like me. I will be pushing the blog into a different direction than I started. I really hope you like the new direction, and I hope with a lot of work I can get a few readers.
In God We Trust

This is a very touchy topic for many American Christians. I think the touchiness come from a misconception. Many people believe that that motto has always been on American currency, but this is untrue. The motto was first printed in 1864, and was made official by congress until 1956. Look at those dates and what comes to mind (American Civil War and The Cold War)? This saying is actually used as propaganda during war time. The first was used during the Civil War to try to polarize the people of the Country. Then the US government wanted to paint the USSR as a godless nation; because the USSR had a complete secular state. The question is should we still have the Motto “In God We Trust” on our currency. This is a really hard question to answer. On one side, the majority of our nation is Christian. On the other hand, we do have a freedom of religion (this does not only apply to a believe in a god, but also apples to NO belief in ANY god). Also, the majority of American Currency is held by foreign entities and should we take there opinion into consideration. Well hear is my answer to this question. This may come as a surprise to may of you as I am an Atheist. I think the motto should stay on our currency, but I think the true origin of that motto should be thought in our school. In all my years of primary school and even College level history/poly sci class this fact is never mentioned. I always made of point of this, but it was never in the book or curriculum. Why are we hiding this, are we ashamed of it? What is your opinion please comment.
P.S. Sorry I ahve not posed in a few days. I leave for vacaton on Monday, Aug 11, and have been working alot of hours this week to make up for a week of vacation.

Well this is my first post of my blog. I guess I will just tell you that this blog is about the pursuit of science and fighting the delusion of any dogma. I know some people will tie the ism I label myself with as a dogma. Well I only label myself to aid religious people in the generality’s of my beliefs and to be honest I hate being labeled because I my not follow all the beliefs or stereotypes that the label presents.

My First Comment, My First Bible Verse
August 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Well this is the best blog I have started to date, a comment within hours of starting (I am quite proud of my self). I just got my first comment, and it was a bible verse… Philippians 1 v 6. That is all that this commenter left and I really do thank him for that, but it did make me thank that I should tell everyone a little more about me. Well I was raised a Lutheran, I attended a private Lutheran school from pre-school until the fifth grade, and attended church every Wednesday and Sunday. I was baptised at two and took my first communion at 13. As I took these steps though I honestly always did doubt there was this Omnipotent being watching me at all times and somehow shaping my destiny. I have to admit I have always been a scientific person (by which I mean that I need to see physical proof of something before I will believe it, It may have stemmed from the disappointment of Santa Claus and the Easter bunny). I still considered myself a christian through high-school and into the start of college. Always doubting there was any god, I decided to “come out” as some people like to call it. I told my family I was an Atheist (truthfully I thank they would have accepted Gay over Atheist any day). I do come from a very conservative christian family who found it very hard that I though the thing that they based there life on was just a myth, fake, and false hope. I have 3 grandparents, a mix of 10 aunts and uncles and +20 plus cousins in my direct family and after this I really on have contact with 1 grandparent, 3 aunts or uncles, maybe 6 cousins. At first everyone think you are doing it for attention, but I was not. Almost two years later I am still an Atheist. I am not trying to convince anyone there is no god, some people need faith to make it in this would. I am only asking people to use there intelligence, look at things logical, and respect everyone’s own beliefs. Thank You.
